Rural Transformation and Sustained Growth of Agriculture

Rural India suffers from poor infrastructure and inadequate amenities. Low agricultural growth perpetuates food and nutritional insecurities, which also reduces rural incomes. How can we encourage and support our villages in improving their living and livelihood conditions in innovative ways?

Has MGNREGS actually succeeded in mitigating rural distress?

I think there is a lot lot more work to be done yet. Empowerment of panchayats may help in better handling of the stress according to me. Local people must be given more flexibility in choosing the work and yes though MGNREGS has been a success so far, but it will be more beneficial to have it in areas where it is actually required.

rishi8828@gmail.com wrote:is there is any way by which govt. made compulsion to the company that they should to invest certain %of their for their corporate social responsibility and fixed the certain ratio of that money should be used for rural development and govt ask company to invest that money in mnarega and give responsbility to company to get work dome this will help government to reduce fiscal deficit as well MNREGA proceeds in more planed and accountable manner...............?whating for reply and hope that decission maker think on that suggestion.thankyou :)

Compulsory social responsibility will discourage industries in India which will be unhealthy for Indian economy. Also MNREGA targets on poor without any intention to earn profits or w/o considering the skills, pvt. people will seek skilled workers for maximum profits which will again leave the unskilled workers unemployed, skilled workers can anyway get a job, MNREGA is focused to provide jobs mostly to the unskilled labors who are unable to get a job. Thus involving pvt. participation will not be able to achieve the goals of MNREGA.

Instead it should be done to enhance the skills of workers through MNREGA . Mini colleges can be set up in rural areas based on the local environment.
