Rural Transformation and Sustained Growth of Agriculture

Rural India suffers from poor infrastructure and inadequate amenities. Low agricultural growth perpetuates food and nutritional insecurities, which also reduces rural incomes. How can we encourage and support our villages in improving their living and livelihood conditions in innovative ways?

MGNREGS has succeeded in mitigating rural distress. What are its other effects and what should be done?

How can we achieve programmatic convergence and integration of drinking water supply projects with sanitation, MGNREGA, IWMP and revival of traditional water harvesting structures?

Unless we do not have the flexible funding at the panchayat level which uses funds from these schemes to have drinking water schemes in place, the convergence is not possible. There is need to have pool of resources (funds) with Panchayats and then they spend it on their drinking water schemes, the further breaking up of expenditure project wise may be done at later stage (though budget will be estimated in the beginning and the source of the funding can be earmarked).
